Ok, here's the story.

I received my Edelbrock turbo kit in Wednesday from a local speed shop and late last night me and a buddy descided to have a go at it. Here's my little story so far. We get all the parts laid out and notice there's no instructions in the box. Oh well, that's not to bad we can get started on it and get the instructions later. My wife of course complains in the background we are men and don't use them anyway.

Of course, first things first. It's a turbo kit, lets get the turbo in the car first. I put it up on some ramps in the garage, removed the front bumper, drained the oil/coolant, and removed the exhaust manifold.

Next, we take the beautiful G28 garrett turbo out of the box and notice wow this thing is pretty heavy. The fit and finish of the exhaust manifold is awesome and everything is already attached except the oil return line. Oh sweet, this'll be a piece of cake. Next, we didn't even bother to remove the A/C fan shroud and we droped the turbo into place and bolted it up. Woohoo it's now a turbo Civic!

Opps, we still have more to do. This is an everything and then some type kit. I mounted the Spearco FMIC with Edelbrock stamped on it  Again, fit perfect everything just bolted right in. Horn didn't even have to move. While my buddy is under the car removing the oil pain, opps pan. Oh well, the intercooler was done quick so I proceeded to take the old intake off the car. Once the old intake was off, I installed the newly purchased AEM high flow Fuel rail, regulator onto beautiful new Edelbrock intake manifold. Transferred the throttle body, injectors, idle air control to the new intake and finished up by trying to sort out all the NPT fittings on the intake. Now that I have the instructions I almost had them all in the right place. We tapped the oil pan without the instructions. The oil drain hose was the perfect shape and length we just eyeballed where the hose would go before removing the oil pan completely.
*now that I have the instructions* it's right where the instructions said to tap it.

Now came the intercooler tubing, which was really easy to install. Just plug in play. Opps, we seem to missing the inlet compressor pipe. It's the pipe the air filter attaches to. We checked all over but it wasn't to be found. I took pictures when we laid the kit out but it wasn't in those either. I thought about calling Edelbrock but it was 3 am in the morning.

Ok so we have the turbo in, downpipe bolted up to the cat, the intake almost ready to go in, and the intercooler piping hooked together. We got stuck without the wiring instructions for the Elink system and intake. I did go ahead and put the Boost guage in and ran the wires/vacuum tubing into the engine bay.

All of this took about 5 hours with lots of breaks to figure stuff out. We started at 10PM and it got kind of hard figuring stuff out at 3 in the morning so we call it quits.

I called Edelbrock about the missing instructions and missing pipe from the kit. Everyone I talked to was really friendly and probably the best customer service I've had anywhere. They sent me the instructions in email right away. I'm a Network engineer and has anyone called Cisco tac? I thought that was good but Edelbrock's was better. I don't know if the shop that I received it from took it from the box or it was miss packed. Oh well, guess what. Edelbrock after the standard questions for the serial number of the turbo and so forth. They just shipped my missing pipe to me. Now that's good customer service.

It's been a fun project so far. I'm sure it'll be alot more fun feeling the boost!

Night number 2 of the install. I have to work to pay for my toys so only get to work on it in the evenings. Total hours spent about 2 and a half. Installed the intake manifold on the car and pluged all the hoses and connectors in. Longest part was scraping the old gasket off the head. That thing seemed like it was welded to the motor. Everything ready to go but the wiring. I have the ecu connectors pulled out of the passenger compartment to the engine bay for easy wiring. Should only be about another hour to hour and a half on the install.

Thanks for reading.

what u think of the difficulty on the installation? how much hp can that kit produce lets say at 6-7psi since that is the norm, and hows it feel after u install it?

Just finished the install minus the compressor inlet pipe that will be here on Monday. It's been dyno'd on a 99 Civic EX at 176whp/140torque at stock level. I just took it for a short test drive and I'd say ummm it's awesome. Zooommm whooosshhhh zoooom.

As for as the difficulty of the install, I think it was pretty simple. It took me and a buddy about 11 hours to install from sticking it up on ramps to hauling ass around the block. No snags if you follow the directions which are pretty good. We broke it out over 3 nights after work to install it.
Just a few snags. A crush washer that kept leaking but that's because I installed a different fuel rail. I did break the knock sensor :banghead: it's 120 bucks from honda. Just watch out when you remove the old intake to not let it drop onto the knock sensor. That's about it as for as headaches. It was like putting a cool puzzle together with all the pieces there.
