Thinking of getting ecotec...suggestions?

is the engine reliable? heavy tuning potential??

um... pretty much..

if the manufacturer >>> GM... dumps an assload of money for aftermarket development and engineering to see what they can come up with... yeah!!!!

if the manufacturere backs a sport compact drag team that runs a 2.2 ecotec motor.. will there be a huge aftermarket potential? YEAH....

heavy tuning potential-yes and no. yes, there is a huge aftermarket out there for cavaliers, they are becoming ever so popular in the tuning world-the american ricer-so to speak. where the tuning pontential falls is w/ the aluminum block; yes very light and still very good, but it can't handle as much power as the slightly older 2.2L 2200 and the 2.4L heavy iron blocks. while yes they are obviously heavy, but they can handle a huge amount of hp and torque, something the ecotec would just die under the stresses.

personally, i'd still go w/ the ecotec, i mean i'm not gonna do so much serious stuff to it that the engine would just fall apart-but that's my opinion.

what are some inexpensive tunnigs for the 2.2l 2200?

you obviously haven't seen the drag cars that are out in sport compact drag racing have you?

pretty damn reliable if you ask me for a production block w/ a few tricks here and there... destroked to 2.0L, turbocharged, awesome headowork... man this motor is just waiting to be tuned..

that turbo ecotec from chevy? is that for sale anywhere or just a prototype??
