I have 96 Maxima with 9004 headlight bulbs/housing. I've been using the cheap blue/white light bulbs that everyone uses nowdays, and now I really wanna put in the real HID's 6000k. Some say that the housings for my Max is not designed for HID's so they wouldn't be as bright on my car. Is this true??? Has anyone here has a 4th gen. Max with HID's???

I'm not sure about anywhere else, but buying/selling/installing HIDs is now illegal in New York State.

Department of Traffic was getting complaints about "really bright" headlights from alot of drivers. DOT figures they're from improperly installed or aimed HIDs or that they're being installed in housings not made for them.

The law does not apply to cars that come stock from factory with HIDs. If my cars HIDs get stolen (As mine almost were, see post (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t133011.html)) I can get new HIDs installed.

lots of stuff's "illegal" dark tints, loud mufflers/intakes, y pipes. that's interesting, i didn't know that about the HID's. but i doubt they're going to not sell you the lights. whoever installed the y pipe on my 95 maxima was doing it illegally, but he did it. that's all that mattered to me.

i am pretty sure this applies to all aftermarket HID manufacturers...even if not, it will be that way soon

if you do get HID's, don't egt anything above 6000K, otherwise you will start to lose lots of brightness

What Rich Basically forgot to mention was that all Aftermark HID's are illegal to sell. Not Illegal to own. You can still get HID's if your car came with them or if it was an option for your car (factory installed of course)
