Blast from the past... 126!

About five years ago, I found a Walgreens that still had a whole rack of 126 film - stupidly I only bought one roll there. After getting it developed I was told that 126 film had been discontinued. At the time I thought that I'd never be able to use the beloved Instamatic X-35 again.
Ah, but no more must it collect dust in a box as a useless artifact of a better, more photographer friendly time.
The 126 cartridge cameras are without a doubt the best point and shoot cameras ever made, the photographs I've made with them easily compare to the quality of a good 35mm SLR - and so long as you forget about such things as knowing how your picture will look before you take, and that the 126 format shoots only "square" pictures, it's just as good. Maybe even better when you're in a situation where you don't have time to think about f stops and shutter speeds, or even to focus the lens.
Now that I know Solaris makes 126 film, my only question is: where can I find Magi-Cubes for this thing? :smokin:

Magi-cubes :uhoh: That really is going back a long way. Haven't seen those since I was a kid.

Try going to a local camera store...not Kitz Cameras but an acutal camera store where they sell new and old cameras. If you can't find a store in your area, there is a camera shop a mile up the road from where I work and I can check and see what they got there.

EDIT: Ah yes...check this site out:

I had a 126 as well. Last time it was used was when I graduated high school 11 years ago. There wasn't such a thing as digital cameras yet. 35mm was the way to go but 126 film could still be sold.

Now speaking of cameras........

Does anyone remember in the late 80s, Burger King had tiny tiny little cameras...I forget whether you could buy em for $3 or if they came in the kids meals....they took 110 film. I still have mine boxed away somewhere. If I find it without tearing the house apart I ought to post a pic of it :D

I have a couple 110 cameras, but did anybody here ever use a disc-film camera? A friend of mine used to have one, real weird machines - I haven't seen any film for them since about the last time I saw 126 stocked on shelves.

Yes I had the disk camera...and yes they were weird. I don't remember too much about it though. A friend had given to me when we were in 8th grade, and it broke not too long after I got it :(
