hey i was woundering hwat u guys think my hp will be..
289(.30. so a 293)
5.24/5.44 cam
a good intake(not sure if one carb or 2 carbs yet)
1-3/4 headers (3 inch pipes, glass packs, routing out the side)
good preformance pistons
351W 4v heads
anything at all will be cool thanks

It all depends on what kind of things you have, you didnt give much detail to your setup. Like you said .524 i/.544e cam, that's ok but what compression pistons? What kind of intake, either dual-plane or single-plane. What kind of horsepower did the 289 originally come with? What cfm carb? With what you list though, it could be over 320. And by the way 4 valve 351 heads??? Um, i thought the 289's were OHV engines???

By 4v heads, rerun means for a 4bbl carb I believe. I believe the v=venturi, but I may be wrong. :)

4V Cleveland heads on a 289 don't make much sense for many reasons. First thing is your trying to make a Boss 302 engine basically. You will not find those cast 4V heads in good shape cheap unless you get extremely lucky. You can get a brand new set of aluminium heads that will out perform those for less and drop 50-75lbs of weight. Also an intake that will work on that block with those heads are going to be extremely limited. You either need to buy adapter plates or you need to have the intake machined by some1 who really knows what they are doing.

3" is for big blocks dude, when we build race engines for stock car racing theres a good 20,000-30,000 invested in HP and they only run 2"
3" will give u no back pressure and if your engine is high compression your glass packs will be blown out in a week

3" inch is not only for big blocks. Granted 3" is overkill for him and glasspacks suck. But there a lot of small block Fords that need 3"

3" is really only needed atfer 400 hp. 2 1/2" would be just fine.

It's the diameter of the pipe that the exhaust flows though after the headers. I.E. h-pipe, muffler, tail pipes. Stock is 2 1/4", most after market systems are 2 1/2", higher hp or race applications sometimes use 3".

ok:
i was meaning 351 Windsor heads
and it would be running at 9.62 commpression..
and it would be a tunnel ram with 900cfm total
