Turbo CTR?

From what I've seen, people who build their B16B's n/a struggle to get into the 13's and are reluctant to get 12's in the 1/4. I want 11's and the only way to get there is through forced induction. I know some will say it was a waste of money to get this engine as a base to a turbo application, so don't bother I've heard it before.

For starters, what should I lower the compression to, and with what parts? I already have forged pistons so I could probably run some hefty boost from the start... CTR rods aren't forged though, but would I have to swap them to lower compression? Would I have to buy a turbo for a GSR engine, or Si?

Realistically this setup won't even be started until next spring/summer, but I want to get some information/feedback as soon as I can.

IMO....if u wanted to go FI u should have got a different engine :2cents:

I know I know... I posted this same question on another board and they said to build it for fi I would have to swap so many parts it wouldn't really even be a B16B anymore... sucks. I guess I can live with all motor 13's when money comes around.

If you don't have money, don't bother trying to boost. No money to pay for stuff for boost means you don't have the money to fix stuff when it brakes (notice I said when, not if. Stuff brakes all the time.) What I would do is start buying parts, look for a GSR motor in the junkyard, darton sleeve it throw in some 81-83MM 9:1 pistons and crower rods, get your fuel system sorted out, buy a good standalone, and piece together your turbo kit. Once you have everything together, pull the B16B, sell it for some pretty damn coin, and get your turbo GSR setup in there. Honestly, it'll be cheaper and you'll make more power that way than trying to turbo the B16B. If you really wanted to turbo it though, i'd get a set of JE's "9.8:1" GSR pistons, they have a 1.7CC dish and would give you around 8.8:1-8.9:1 on your stock motor. Put together a turbo kit and use the money you saved by doing that instead of buying a kit to, once again, get a good standalone and fuel system.

i say keep ur engine b/c itz rare amung all the common b16's....but if u want to go FI...i say follow the advice that boosted331 gave and sell ur engine for a b18c1

Boosted also reminded me forced induction isn't as reliable as au-naturale, so I guess I've found my path :)

Ha, InlineFour is like 10 minutes away from me. Those guys are cool as piss. They've got two Integra Type R's straight from Japan with right hand drive and all that jazz.

Honestly, I suggest doing business with them. They know what they're talking about.


They've got a B18C5 on the floor of the show room. They said its making like 210hp. I asked how much, he said it was $6300. I was like WHAT? The guy was cool, his reply "I know, we don't sell too many of those... we build motors that can destroy that thing no problem."

They are cool, and helpful too. My engine came more complete and cleaner than anything I've ever seen. It wasn't cheap, but I definitly got what I paid for.

Sweet, i'll be sure to tell my friend that I've heard of somebody using a InlineFour motor and not having problems... Glad you're enjoying it.

The guy who helped install it said the same thing after he unwrapped it off the pallet in the driveway, and he's done 7 swaps for friends who order from various online stores, hmotorsonline.com being one of them. Check out the price differences and you'll see they're cheaper, buy one and you'll find out why.

I actually posted a similar question on the 92 civic page. except I was talkin about the ITR. i was met w/ what u knew u would be met w/. anyway do u think u are going to keep it n/a. Cuz I'm really interested in the results depending on what u do.

JUN sells a 1.6 -> 2.0 stroker kit for the B16B. I found it after the Spoon kit, but I'd have to send my engine to them... f that.

It would be like a B20 CRVtec with more hp, more torque, and a higher redline. I think I need to apply for a new credit card, it sounds too tempting :)
