Sorry, but it looks like a Yami. No more, no less. I'm not going to oogle over this just because it looks a little bit edgier than before. Sure, it is attractive, but certainly not droolworthy.

I am much more interested in how much power this thing will end up hitting the streets with, the 03 gixxer1K although very powerful track bike resembles a busas front end too much. I still am waiting for the ZX10R, and the Honda 1liter. With the new superbike rules, the power these bikes are producing will be much much more then current street bikes (or capable anyway).

I'm eagerly awaiting Honda's 998. THAT should be a beauty. Yes, I am going against my own bike at present, but I am much more into Honda and Suzuki motorcycles than Kawi or Yami.
All I can think about on that R1 is how much the poor curb monkeys you pick up will complain about the rear seat. Can we say OWWWWIES??? Damn, and I thought the '01 R1's passenger seat hurt.

the 600RR seat sucks big time too, I sat on one the other day. like sitting on a park bench or something, absolutely no padding. but the sheer acceleration of the thing made me forget all about then uncomfortable seat. the only 2 things I could think are( damn i gotta get one of these) and (whatever you do dont let go!)

im confused? you want to see what it hits the streets with? what bike? the R1, will it not be produced with the 180HP it states on the page? or you mean the other bikes. I went and looked at them all today and the suzuki was the most comfortable seat I think, didnt get to sit on the ZX6RR, wasnt there, but sat on the ZX6R, and out of all of them the R6 had the most comfortable riding position but not the best seat. the kawasakis seat was good to, but the yamahas werent too cushiony and the 600RR front seat was even like sitting on a board, I also sat on the 954RR and an older 929RR, they all felt very stiff. and how do you know that hondas next bike will be a 998? do you get this kind of info in the mags? and about the curb monkeys. Im gonna try and carry passengers as least amount of times as possble, I dont wanna be responsible for others lives as well as my own.

I wasn't aware Yamaha gave off an official listing of specifications on the new R1, usually companies don't even comment on power output. You will change your mind too about having riders on your motorcycle when you see how many women wet their panties over just the thought of a sportbike.

yeah, the only hp ratings ive seen actually advertised by the manuf. was the 03 954RR they said 154 HP, and the R1 says 180HP. the R6 says over 200HP/liter, but that could be anything above 120, id imagine if it was alot more though theyd say it. its probably 120.1
Im sure you are right about that. but if it was a girl id be alot les likely to hoss the shit out of it with them on the back, so les of a chance to hurt them and me. but personally i dont think it is fun at all sitting on the back of one. it is cool form the acceleration but after that 3 seconds of taking of it gets old quick, WAY more fun riding things than being a passenger.

oh, and before you say anything about that, I dont care how wet their panties are, noone, especially a woman(no offense, im sure there are good women riders out there) will ride my bike without having either one of their own to give me, money to fix mine, or a nice car to give me after they drop it.

read up on it, its 172hp at the crank, with 8hp added with ramair at full effect, so 180hp at the crank. Take 15% drivetrain loss and you are left with 153rwhp.
I don't let people even touch my bike let alone ever think of letting them drive it. I only let girls sit in the back after they get a good talk about motorcycle safety and stuff.
But I am totally digging the new R1 anyway, the lines on it are very very sexy.

yeah, I like the looks.the buyer fell through today bt a found a new one who sounds so excited to buy it and then im gonna pay it off and I found a 1999 CBR600F4(I think it was F4 in 99, maybe not) but new yellow paint job, fender eliminator, flush mount front/rear blinkers/7k miles/new tires/tinted winshield, only damage was a scratch on the pipe to the can, and a small crack in fairing by the left mirror(on the 1 inch part between mirror pedestal and winshield, but barely noticable, and he said it was form a kid leaning on the bike there, which sounds right cuz if it fell on it, none of the other stuff that would have been damaged as well is. anyways it is 4600 OBO, but runs perfect, and looks SO nice. I also found a 98 F3 with same color new paint, and gear for 4500 with only 3700 miles on it, but it just doesnt look as nice. lots of little things just look way better on the 99. also the F4, he might have had it warmed up already, but he started it wiht the choke, and let it idle at like 3 for a few seconds, then opened up the choke and revved it a bit. the guy with the F3 did the same thing, but it wasnt as smooth from idle, wqhen he revved it it kinda hesitated til it hit about 3k, then revved smoh, asx it warmed up though it got better. you think somethings wrong, or do they do that til warmed up and the F4 guy had been riding it already?
anyways Im hopefully joining the sportbike world soon. took my test without reading the book and failed though, got to question 24 and screwed it up and that was miss#6. so ill read the book next time.
what do you think of this bike as a first bike(to own) I am not gonna say i have tons of riding experience but i think I got enough.

If you keep enough sense about your riding, you will be ok. The F4 is a great bike, very dependable, and will be a long time untill you outgrow it. The older the bike, the older the seals and gaskets and whatnot, so they usually take a little longer to warm up then newer bikes.
Make sure you know the motorcycle handbook, but you will find out that on the road what the handbook says is not always what the best option is. A motorcycle safety course, in my opinion, is the ABSOLUTE best experience you can have when riding a motorcycle.

the thing that screwed me up was when it said that when turning at lower speeds, you abc or d, and i chose lean with the motorcycle, but you arent supposed to, it doesnt say how slow you are going though, and I can prove oit but I SWEAR option D changed when the question came back at the end. D said had been drinking at first, i skipped it, it came back I chose A(unskilled) and it told me the answer was D, all of these, which the first time i had a hard time deciding so i probably would have chose this option if I knew it was there. the other ones i got wrong were my fault though.
and I am not planning any spirited riding til I get used to the bike.
is there any kind of manintanence I should do right away just in case?
also, should I use full synthetic in the bike? or not unless the guy has the whole life of the bike. is 7k miles too many to use that synthetic flush crap and switch?
