flash codes ??

HI just was wondering if there is a way to pull dtc's out of Elantra by the
flash code method ? I am hopefully getting a scanner but kinda costly,
especially the ones with import.... the newer haynes or chilton manuals
are also VERY hard to find down here. I have check engine light on
right now. I have car going in to shop for the Air bag light on Thursday
so If I don't find out now I'll just bring it up then .... thanks in advance..
