changin my speakers

lookin to add aftermarket speakers to my car so i can have a bumpin system... i had some 6.5" speakers from my previous car and installed them in my back deck... i don't have the bose system so i didn't have to worry about that... but then to my suprise, i found out that the speakers that fit correctly in the car are 6.75"

just curious what everyone else has done w/ that

i was also thinkin about takin a component set and then a 2 or 3 way speaker and puttin that speaker in the front door and the big one from the component set in the back deck so that all the treble is in the front and all the bass would be in the back...

question is... is there any built in cross overs in the wiring that leads to the tweeters and the front door speakers for the car... cause i'd want to run just the high's to the tweeters but everything to the 3 ways... just curious how that works w/ the factory equiptment

But seriously, sounds like U might need some bass blockers, though. Or a fairly decent crossover. Most component sets come with active or passive crossovers, so routing the signals shouldn't be much of a problem, I'm thinking....

I really don't think there's a crossover or filter, as such, in the OEM wiring. But then again, what do I know?? I've got Boston Acoustic ProSeries components all around! :smoka:

I recently put 6 1/2" speakers in the rear deck of my 95 SE with no problem. Not sure if it's different for the 97. The front was more of a pain however. I bought some Blaupunkt 6 1/2" components from Crutchfield. They came with an adapter but it was still a hassle to install with that. I mounted the tweeters right above the top of the plastic running on the side of the front windshield. Ended up sounding much clearer than the stock crap. And yes, the components did come with a crossover. I also didn't have Bose. Good luck should sound great once they're installed!!

Hmm i got a bose system...and it sounds aite.. my friend wants to sell me 2 12' hollywood excursions.... with a 300 wat amp.. how would that do? is it possible to hook it all up with the bose system?
