I have a 94 supra, I was thinking about running a V8 motor into it and running a twin turbo kit for the motor. I was wondering if you guys thought it was a good idea. I have ethier choice to buy a whole other TT supra with body damage and swap the internals into mine now, but I was thinking about going a different route. Let me know what you think. Thanks

I swear to God, if you put a fuckin' V8 into a MKIV I will personally flog you to death with the nearest blunt object I can find. :disappoin
Don't bother keep the 2jz it can make just as if not more impressive number than a V8.

The fastest supra in Japan which is the HKS supra has the 4L V8 engine from the lexus SC430 in it with twin turbos.
Has done a flat 7 secs from what I know.

Look (http://www.suprastore.com/hksdragsup68.html) at it. I wouldn't even call it a Supra. NOTHING on it is stock. Anyway, the 2jzgte is capable of the 1500hp that the V8 puts out. It's easier to get serious HP out of a 2jzgte then it is to get out of an sc430 because the 2jzgte is built for FI and the sc430's engine isn't. It's not worth the extra money unless you got money ro burn.

there are so many benefits to switching to a V8 its not funny. weight is moved further back for better balance. its bigger more power runs smoother. torque monster. and how many people have it, not many. thats some huge WOW factor. nowadays you see so many people with 500hp+ supras with turbo 2JZs its not even impressive anymore. a 1200hp+ supra doesnt even get my spine tingling. now a 500hp N/A V8 in a supra would be so nice and an auto cross/strip monster.

A V8 is heavier and goes in exactly the same spot as the old motor. How does that help weight distribution? If he's talking about an American V8, it's a disgrace to a good car. SC400/430 V8s don't have anywhere near enough parts available to make it 500hp n/a. It isn't as easy to turbo an SC400/430 V8 because they're both NA and not built to be turbocharged. Torque isn't really an object. A 2jzgte will put out almost the same amount of torque as horsepower and the same goes for a V8 and it will cost a lot more to build up a 750hp v8 then the stock 2jzgte. A 1200HP+ Supra would get your spine tingling if you rode in one!

Why not just buy a $3500 JDM 2jzgte complete swap? That would be much cheaper.

just get a Camaro or 5.0 Mustang if your V-8 crazy..... Supras are known for the inline 6 potential 1500+hp.... you'd most definately defeat the purpose of racing a supra if its got a V-8 (in my opinion)... But hey, anythings possible

ls1 weighs less than the 2jz
ls1 block = aluminum
2jz = cast iron
this is the reason the 2jz is so boost friendly and the ls1 is...not

hahaha, not so true
sorry this isn't my place, but some1 gave me a link to it
to stay on topic, for the amount of money and trouble that it would require to put a v8 (let alone a v8 twin turbo) into your supra, you could easily have a 10sec street car... and unless you have your own metal working/ machine shop to fabricate the million of things you would have to, not to mention somehow figuring out how to make the wiring harness of a fuel injected GM engine to work with the chasis harness of a supra
if you have all the free time in the world and so much money that you can afford to blow, then i wouldn't recommend you even begin to attempt it...
and if you have cash to blow, you could always throw some my way

I've considered doing a UZ engine swap into a MKIII, but not a MK IV. It just not worth it. I supose if you have a MKIV NA, maybe. You have to ditch the motor anyway, and with the price of a 2JZGTE these days, it might be worth it if you can find a totaled Lexus cheap enough. If you already have the 2JZGTE then just build it. I supose if you are looking to change classes in a racing format, or trying to score extra points in a show catagory it might be worth it. The all aluminum Lexus V8s might even be a tick lighter than the cast iron 2JZ. For daily driver duties the better low end power in the V8 would make it a bit more livable.
I see as usual there are people talking out their ass and bad mouthing V8s for no good reason other than they are V8s. You can make good power out of the UZ line. Toyota ditched the 2JZ years ago in thier JGTC program. They have been campaigning the 3UZ line in the GT 500 class Supras. In the US Toyota's road racing efforts focus around the Lexus line and their V8s. They are running the Tundra, and rumored to come the Avalon in NASCAR. Don't go talkin smack about V8s. I hate to see that ignorant rice VS redneck crap.
There is no replacement for displacement. Forced induction is just used as a subsitute. All it dose to a small motor is bring it to the level of a NA motor of a larger displacement. You can't compare the two. Just an example (numbers are made up): If you run 7psi through a 2.0L I4 and produce 300 HP, you have just made it out put the same as a NA 5.0L V8. Now that is not a good comparison. You need to compare boosted to boosted, not boosted to non-boosted. If you put 7psi through that V8 you would get about 450-500HP. Now you can compare that. 300 @ 7psi vs 450 @ 7psi (450@7psi). the little guy just can't keep up. The best seen out of the 2JZ is about 1500 HP. Top fuel big block V8s produce between 7000-8000HP. Agian the little guy just can't keep up. This is why you don't see pro stock Supras in the NHRA. As good as deveolpment has gotten on the pro RWD cars, they are still about a second slower than their pro stock counterparts.
Now, if you were to look at the dyno charts you would probably see that in our little 2.0L example it wouldn't even begin to make any kind torque over 100 lbft untill about 300-3500 RPM, when the turbo would cut in. In a V8 you would probably be making around 250lbft off idle, and you would have good power production across the band. You need torque in all forms of racing. In drag you need it for the hole shot, in circut racing you need it to get down the straight and to power out of corners.
