Fujimi AMG E55

Has any got or built the Fujimi AMG E55? Or any of the other W210 style Fujimi kits since I'm sure they're all from the same mold? I want to build a replica of my dad's car as a gift for him, and I'm wondering if it's a nice, fairly hassle-free build. Fujimi kits scare me when I buy them, no telling what surprises are inside.

I have the kit, it's not one of Fujimi's finest.. :shakehead
If you look at the front end, it's the older "2 piece" front bumper, not like the later version ('99 or '00 when the redid the front end) that you see on the boxart, which will require filling to look correct. The body proportions look almost correct. The license plate surround on the trunk lid is of European dimensions, vs. US dimensions (the rectangle is much wider), so it looks a bit different. The interior looks pretty poor, the molding quality is a throwback to the early 80's, if that. Chassis isn't much better. Wheels and tires are nice. (This is sounding a lot like their new RX-8 kit).
With patience and skill, the model can turn out nice. But it's simply nowhere near the quality of a Tamiya, or even a good Aoshima kit. :disappoin

When did Fujimi realease the E55 ? I've always been looking for it but I never found anything.

It's been out for quite awhile now. Not sure if it's even still available.
And don't let the pretty boxart illustration fool you...though the E55 is slightly better than the earlier E class (non E55 versions), their bumper moldings were terrible and engraving was incomplete, wheels were really small.

Thanks, that's good info to chew on. I'll have to sleep on that.
Fujimi made an E55, and a E320, too, if I'm not mistaken. They've been OOP for awhile. In my wanderings, came across a shop that had an E55 on the shelf. Thought about getting it, but wanted some opinions off the board first.

I built that Fujimi kit... the interior is nice. gives you the option to build E320-420/430 and 55 (different decals, etc) Body proportions are spot on (except for the eurotrunk)
Exhaust can be fixed to represent a non 55 model.

Actually, the body proportions are wrong in some places. Windows are two small, headlights aren't correct aligned correctly and the bumpers are slightly misshaped. At least some company made a half-way decent version of the e class.

I guess I was not that picky.. I had a W210 E class at the time that I was building this one and it came out close... No body proportions are perfect I guess...
