What's first?

I have a typical newbie question: What should I do first to my 1990 Celica GT. I just bought it two weeks ago. I've never fixed up a car before. More to the point, what can/should I do first that I can install myself? (I have rudimentary mechanical skills.)

What are you wanting to do? and how much are you planning to spend on your car? Are you wanting to get the more expensive stuff done first or last?
Maybe I can help you find some parts for it.
Here's a few ground effects kits, to give you an idea what you want it to look like. http://erebunicorp.com/ge/toycel90.htm

I'd like to work on the engine first. I hear the first way to go is an exhaust system. If i get an exhaust system, would that limit anything i might decide to do in the future? Or are those things pretty flexible. A cold air intake and exhaust are the first things that come to mind, but what other options do i have? Is replacing the computer a better choice over installing a racing cam? Is it worthwhile, or even possible to put a supercharger on a 1990 celica? Those ground effects are sweet, btw. thanks for that.

if you do some modding and decide to do the work yourself, jus ask ppl how to do it, any probs they had doin it and stuff like that. its feels lot more rewarding to do the work urself, even tho u might jus wanna break shit in the process

I do want to do some mods myself. Can anyone recommend a bolt on exhaust system that i could install with my buddies over a weekend?

What kind of Engine does your car have? 4AFE, 5SFE or 3SGTE? that could help out with the searches alot.
If you want to do Turbo/Super on your car you may want to save the exhaust system and intake til after you get that installed.
Blitz makes a complete bolt on Exhaust for Turbo charged Celicas from 1990-1993, called "Blitz-NUR Spec R". It's a little pricy though $643.95 plus tax. Just about every aftermarket company that makes air intake systems can make one for your car. Computer chips are a good idea, but if you intal a tunable computer system, you can tune the engine from the driver's seat, they're usually run about $300-700(depending on brand and quality).
Another good way to go, before doing anything major to your car, is Cam Gears, AEM has some that are made for stock, modified naturally aspirated and forced-induction, for $170.
I havn't found a supercharger yet, but I'm going to keep searching.
I'll get back to you as soon as I find one. E-mail me if you need any info on the installations.
