hi....im wondering what if any engine swaps can be done to an 88 accord lxi. if so how much would it cost and how much power would it put out. also what are other good mods to do to it to increase power.

With that year any B-series or H-series wil be ok! If your looking to race alot and are looking start a good block for your future then.
If you are looking to race alot and get into imports then go H-series.
If you are looking to just get some pick up and put few mods on then, go B-16 or B-18

Just about any B-series engine will swap into a 3rd gen Accord without problems. Check here:

Anything else will require a lot of custom fabrication which will cost a lot of money. That includes the H-series engine (which will drop into a 4th gen Accord fairly easy):
