does anybody know of a possible engine swap for a 1997 Accord LX that is cheaper than the H22A?

Thanks

Well the next step down would be in the b series, but u would actually probly have less power, and some more room in your engine bay. If your gonna do a swap do the h22.

umm no b series is not even a consideration for accords. the next engines would be h23/jdm f22b with 160 hp dohc non-vtec.

I have the H-22 in my accord, Iam honda lover and been around for a while. Iam positive that the H-22 is best option for the size of the car!
If you decide to go any other size, you will be upset that you made wrong choice. As far as B series, They just dont have the pull a h-22 does! Make sure you do your swap correctly and know it going in the right way, There is alot of custom things a h-22 need to fit and work right! If you are getting JDM motor make sure its real and make sure its not beat up!

Only other option is a usdm H23, good torque (more important than HP) and you can still use your accord tranny.Plus they make lots of power with some head work.

F22B1, the engine the EX has. I'm not sure how much more hp it is but its VTEC.

So basically what you just said, is that after some head work on an H23 now you basically have an H22?

H23's have weaker bottom ends.

Yes an Accord tranny will work? But why? The gear ratio isnt the same nor is the torque rating.

Good torque? Ok maybe, but more important than horsepower? C'mon man, they work hand in hand, you can't have one without the other.

F22B1 (VTEC) stock is 145hp/147ftlbs just as 93AccordEX stated.

Why are you dynoing stock Accords? What sense does that make? Maybe 148hp with an intake.. LOL

Go with the H22 and don't look back!! If you need help or have questions hit me up!!

H23 (160hp)....basically the only worthwhile swap for you is the H22.
