:iceslolan

i just bought a 1990 Infiniti M30 AKA Nissan Leopard.

112k miles, sunroof, leather, CD, Cassette, etc etc.

the price?

$800 Canadian. :iceslolan

that's right.

it's in pristine condition, but there's one catch. the tranny is shot. doesn't really matter to me, as i want to swap in the 5-speed from a 300ZX anyways, since it's automatic stock. one of the tail-lights is also broken, but that's easy to fix. the car is in IMMACULATE condition. this is the greatest steal ever for $800. i know, i know. it's not a 240. but don't worry! i'll add a 240 to my garage in the future, and this was too good a deal to pass up.

plans for the future include SR20DET, suspension, rims, tires, brakes, lightening. i'm not sure if anyone makes body-kits for 'em, but we'll see.

here's teh link0r.

don't worry, the bling-bling rims will be going fairly quickly after i get it home. :lol2:

Great choice, man! I miss my M30 sometimes, and you addressed the one reason I wouldn't buy another one: the transmission. Mine didn't go out or anything; it was just....boringly automatic : ). And yes, to whomever asked, it's rear-wheel drive. And if you guys need some more stats, it's a 3.0L V-6 that puts out 162bhp and 180lb-ft of torque. I've never been certain about the 0-60 times; one thing I found said 10sec, but it certainly felt a lot faster than that. I would estimate about 8sec though. Overall, though, it's a nice car. Very luxurious :P.

VG30E SOHC V6, 162hp. will be replaced eventually with SR or possibly RB of some form, depending on how much money i have...

and yeah, don't worry. since the auto is shot, i'll take the opportunity to swap in a 5-speed from a Z31 or Z32 300ZX. :naughty:

About how much does this beast weigh?

If you're doing a engine swap on it does that mean you aren't getting a 240sx or at least not for a long time?

Keep the bling rimz and in fact get some sweet spinners for that to drift with.....j/k....maybe. But sweet find and god luck man!

i don't know much about that car but wouldn't the easiest swap be maybe a vg30dett from the 300zx? i figured that since there both the vg-seies and both 3 ltr. it may be a pretty straight forward swap.

VG30E is ALOT narrower than VG30DETT. Remeber, single cam N/A vs. twin cam twin turbo.

Since this car is near identical to the R31 skyline, I was thinking RB series swap, or possibly, the VG or SR swaps metioned above.

cool.... its basically a Z31 non turbo engine....

I would swap in a Rb25 or such with that car though... dunno about the Sr20 for it.... isn't the m30 a convertible?

ShinRekka

if its basicly a Z31 non turbo engine, why not put the turbo Z31 engine in it, boost it up

There was a convertible version, yes. The coupe was made from 1990-1992, and the convertible was offered for 1991-1992.

About how much does this beast weigh?

According to Newsday (6/29/90) (http://modelreports.cars.com/modeldata/model_report.jsp?szc=75035&srv=&act=&tf=&makeid=20&year=1990&modelid=227&aff=national), it weighs 3,333lbs. Pretty hefty, sure, but if you got enough power, it's ok : ).

I've seen a m30 vert before in a picture and I must say it kinda resembles a S chassis..... and almost looks like a Silvia with its front end styling. yeah I would turbo that VG, those are pretty good engines, Im sure it can handle the HP you would want.

OUCH

i wouldn't think of doing ANYTHING to that... even with an sr you're running hi 15's. just keep it stock and save for an sr 240.

Need to put the car and the driver on a strict diet:cwm27:

don't worry. the car will be under going an intense weight-loss program before i even think of drifting it.

RB20DET is a direct bolt-up, and SR20 only requires a bit of custom fab on the mounts. trust me, these cars may not be common, but they have a cult following in Japan and are VERY good drifters. sold as the Nissan Leopard in Japan, there was one in a recent Option2 with an SR pushing 400hp, and this thing FLEW through the corners sideways. i've also seen many with RB25's and VG30DET's. i'm personally debating between S14 SR and RB of some sort, depending on how much cash i have in the future. first thing obviousley is to put the 5-speed in. then weight loss. then suspension and swap those ugly chrome 17's out at the same time. THEN the engine will be replaced.

don't worry guys, i know what i'm doing, and this'll turn out to be one helluva bad boy when it's done. :evillol:

i think its great looking car. plus i don't think the weight should be thought of as such a factor. if your going with an RB or VG turbo series motor your curb weight is pretty average to other cars of the class...

300zxtt: 3414lbs (z32.org)
r34 gt-r: 3673lbs (supercars.net)
camaro ss: 3439lbs (edmunds.com)
3000gt vr4: 3803lbs :eek7: (automotiveforums.com)
*don't laugh, i know some incredible vr-4's
mustang gt: 3114lbs (some ford site)

i think the car will be fine as long as you use the RB or VG, even the r32 with the rb20 weighed over 3100lbs. i still think the VG is a great choice.

besides i found this and i says the leopard came with a dohc engine so it couldn't be that hard to get it in your car. those are stats for a '90. i think your cars gonna kick ass.

I wouldn't mind having that car especially for a daily driver.

My 240SX doesnt quite impress the ladies...There's absolutely no bling of any sorts on my car.

I never really got any dates when I had my M30. But I didn't really get any when I had my Land Rover either, so that probably says more about me than it does about the cars : ). I always thought the Infinitah (as I called her) was quite pimptacular though. Ah, I can still the remember the way the leather smelled (oh so sweet) the first time I got in the car. Damn....nostalgia is a douche.
