A short time ago I started getting a rapid vibration through the car that can be felt through the seats, stearing wheel, gear shifter, pedals and floor. Sometimes the vibration is so bad everyone in the car says it feels like their skin is crawling off and other times you can only feel it through the steering wheel and gear shifter. I checked alot of places on the net for the same problem and came up with it being the motor mounts.
Well I took it to a Honda dealer.
Their civic pro said the motor mounts were fine and the vibration is just normal wear and tear but I said it was something that just started happening. One day it just showed up it, it hadnt been there before. They said there was nothing wrong with the car. So I drove it home with the vibration ratteling my bones.
I tried to live with it but sometimes the vibration was just awful. So I took it to another dealer and had them look at it. They called me later in the day....nothing wrong with the car. I had them sit in the car with me and had them feel the vibration. The guy said...oh that....they all do that. I said mine hadnt until a little bit ago. He said well if I wanted they can change the motor mounts but he doesnt think its necessary they look fine.
This vibration is driving me and everyone else that rides in the car nuts!
Should I go ahead and have the mounts changed?
The car itself runs great. It has 117,000 miles on it.
One other thing I have noticed, the vibration seems to get worse when I run the a/c.

When was the last time you did any maintenance?
What is the idle a/c on - a/c off?

If the vibrations are severe enough to complain about, then I would say the car runs like shit

the vibration is there at idle with the a/c off, its more pronounced with the a/c running.
It is also there when driving.
Been about a year since I changed plugs, cap, rotor.
What I meant by the engine running great is that is running smooth not rough.

What are the engine RPM's at idle & also with a/c on?

The vibration is there both while sitting still and while moving. As engine speed increases the vibration is faster.

yea you must have a WEIRD car if your car vibrates to poor alignment AT IDLE! Dont any of you READ?? The car may also be weirder if his suspension comes to life and starts moving and vibrating at IDLE! GEEZ! :screwy:

Well if you are thinking of replacing the motor mounts (which personally I could see causing the problem), you might as well go aftermarket and get something nice instead of paying out the ass for OEM parts from a dealer.
Just my personal view though...
