I am a complete newbie so please forgive this ignorant post ...

I was making a sharp right turn in my 2001 Accord EX when I go too close to the curb and ended up scraping my car against it. The part that is damaged is below the doors and seems to be made of a non - metallic material. It is like a bar along the length of the car just below the door on the passenger side.

It looks like something that can be replaced easily. Any idea what that is called, and where I might be able to get a spare one ?

Well, I dunno exactly what to call it, but if you ask the dealer (or whoever youre getting this part from) that you need to replace your side skirts or side valence, they should know what you mean. This musta been a mighty high curb!

by looking at your rims it seems like you have SE model, so here is link to SE -> http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/prddisplay.jsp?inputstate=5&catcgry1=Accord&catcgry2=2001&catcgry3=4DR+SE&catcgry4=KA4AT&catcgry5=PROTECTOR
if your car is EX, just go back to front page and select your model and trim.

It's called a side skirt. Yes, they're pretty easy to replace. You can get some pretty nice looking aftermarket ones. Wings West for example.
