Smelling Gas.

Alright as some of you know my idle has been really low and a couple of days i changed it, well the idle stays the same but when i have it in park, reverse, or netruel it seems to go from 500rpms to about 1200rpms and back down again, over and over. Also just yesterday i started smelling gas inside my car, is there a serious problem?

I am not sure why you are smelling gas. did you drill anything into the chassis of the car under the rear seat lately? also check all your fuel lines, especialy the banjo bolts on the fuel filter, for any leaks.
as for the RPM thing, might be a TPS(throttle position sensor).

i'de say check the tps, my 88 civic had the tps go out that's basically the symptoms it's expensive as hell to get new but getting one from a junkyard should be good, bring it to a repair shop and ask them to check and see if the computer is spitting out any codes.

i can smell gas in my car too but its because of the rubber fill tube going into the tank, its worn out and i need a newe one, whenever i fill the tank it leaks on the ground and if i hit a sharp corner i can smell the gas.

well good news is when i have my car in drive the idle isto 1000 right now, but still when i put it in neutrel,reverse, or park it still jumps up and down. and it seems like i only smell gas now when i stop at a red light or a train.

just a warning when the throttle body or tps inside it goes bad that happens the problem comes and goes.
