Malfunctioning heater/ac unit

Need help with heating control of mini-van. I drive a 1993 Plymouth Voyager. The heater/ac control is not working when I try to switch where the air blows (e.g. coming from top, windshield, to the feet). It's currently stuck to blow on the top no matter what selection is taken. I have replaced the control unit thinking it was broken with no success. Thanks!!

I am having the exact same problem except mine is blowing on the floor. Have you tried changing the unit from a junk yard? If the unit is working the sliding piece should spring back when you push it all the way to heat position. :)
