First off, I'd like to ask what type of cat-back exhaust you guys think sounds/performs the best. Sound is really important here, because a few horsepower more out of a crappy sounding exhaust system isn't gonna be worth it.

I was thinking of doing something to my T/A to set it apart from the rest, customize it a little. So here's one thing that I thought of: getting a ram-air hood (functional or not, doesn't matter), and mounting a set of fog lights in the holes  Anybody think this would look pretty sweet? I do. It should be easily accomplished as well. Throw me some feedback please.

That will deffently look good and you should look into a Borla system, I know someone here with a Borla on his z28, sounds pretty good......and of course Flowmaster's always sound great!

I have a flowmaster muffler on my T/A right now, and it sounds alright. I want something much deeper though, that is less quiet inside than outside. My exhaust right now sounds better inside the car than outside :( Thx for the input on the hood fog light idea. I was waiting for someone to say something about it. It really wouldn't hurt much to try it out when i get my ram-air hood, so I'll definately post pics when I get it done. Still would like to hear more views on it :)

i think the ram air idea is original and seems crazy

as for the flowmasters what kind are you running right now?

if your running anything but series 40 2 chamber change them to series 40 2 chamber they sound the greatest over everything

Do you think the ram air idea would look good? Say.. with the Predator style ram air hood (not the factory WS6 looking kind).

I've got the American thunder series. I think it is 80.... not too sure. Any performance improvement with the 40 series?

ive never seen that style of ram air hood ive seen stock and i think it would look good in stock

series 80 is a transverse muffler which can be mounded either horizontally or vertircly. it has 1 input and 2 outs

so its a y pipe to singls exhaust to the muffler then 2 tips out the back

if your car has this then switch it to dual exhaust and put 2 series 40 on it it would be a good improvment and you would pic up some hp over the single

Mine isn't dual exhaust of course, so I assume you mean dual outs, right? It is dual output, 4 tips. I don't understand how the muffler could be used vertically or horizontally? Does it have 1 inlet on 2 sides, and 2 outs on 2 sides?

most mufflers are mounted so the the large side is pointing down but series 80 can have either the large or thin side pointed down and it has 1 inlet and 2 outlets

they are set up so its 1 inlet on lets say the left side and then a exit on the left and right side

you have a 350 in your car dont you?

if you do it should be dual exhaust but if not put dual exhaust on it will sound 10x better then now and flow alot better if your going to put some power through the engine

I didn't think it was possible to put true dual exhaust on a T/A without having it custom done. I would love to have that done. Do you think Flowmaster would be best? My friend had a late 80's T/A that had Borla and it sounded very nice. I heard Corsa sounds pretty good, too, and SLP.

BTW, here's a page with a T/A that has the hood that I really want to get: http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?member_id=blacktransam001

pick what you want or what you have see that preformed best borla is very expensive

im a huge fan of the flowmaster tone and sound

if you get true dual put in go with a pair of series 40's with 2.5 pipes you will not be dissapointed

It sounds great from the site, but that could be different than it would really sound on my car... here's the site: http://www.corsaperf.com/autohome.htm

that sounds decent but go to www.flowmastermufflers.com and listen to them

but i still think flowmasters sound the best in the world

I heard a mean sounding T/A last night while cruising/racing around. I had no clue what kind of exhaust it had though. But it sounded awesome, loud as hell, too!

I got a Hooker cat-back on my 87 305 Firebird and it sounds pretty good and it was only about $270. O yea and it came with dual tips on both sides.

My T/A is pretty much stock. I've used the Hypertech Power Programmer 3, Flowmaster Muffler (American Thunder), and a chrome cold air intake instead of the factory box. Not much cuz I'm poor lol. Anybody ever hear a Corsa exhaust on an LT1? I know it's on the site, but I'm talking in person. They aren't very expensive, so it is definately a consideration.

Finally got my car up on CarDomain if you guys wanna check it out: http://members.cardomain.com/transamdude95

Either get a full exhaust system(headers and all) or get a good cat back. I got headers and 3 inch flowmaster 80 series on my 305 and def a noticable gain on sound and performance.
