Wires

In my 1970 1/2 Camaro I want to add more realism to my engines and I've seen people add wires to theirs. So, I looked at some websites and I saw the way to make wires, but not where to connect them when their built. If you could help me that would be great, and please use lament terms, I don't know most of the plugs, etc. Thanks.

Layman's terms, by the way.

If it's a Revell kit, the instructions should say "distributor" and indicate a cylindrical object. This is where one end of 8 wires will go. The other end of all 8 will go into the engine, four under each valve cover, usually between the header pipes, though I am not familiar with Camaros. The valve cover is the long, usually chromed part that sits on top of the engine, there are two. There should be 4 little dimples (shallow holes) on either side of the engine block right under the valve cover. These should be drilled out to accept the wire. Alot of people put a peice of thicker rubber around the end of the wire where it goes into the engine, but I just paint it black with several coats of paint to add thickness, it looks the same to me and is easier. This is to simulate the spark plug boot, or the part that attaches the wire to the sparkplug on the real car. To make this job ALOT easier, it might be a good idea to get a model part called a "prewired distributor." These are usually metal peices with 8 wires sticking out of one end.

As always, look at tons of pictures of real Camaros before you even think about doing this project. That will give you a real good idea of where the wires should go.
