Slotted rotor performance? Pads?

I'm trying to improve the braking distance on my 1996 Accord EX and I'm thinking about having slotted rotors and sports pads mounted on the car.

I'm mainly focused on making the car a little safer by letting it stop faster, so the question is really: Is the investment in the slotted rotors worth it for street driving?

I need to get the pads and rotors repalced anyway, so I figure the extra cost of a slotted rotor vs. a regular one is negligble.

I'm thinking of putting the Brembo slotted rotors on (http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brakes.jsp?autoMake=Honda&autoModel=Accord+EX+Sedan&autoYear=1996&make=Brembo&model=Sport+Slotted+Rotor)
but I'm not sure what kind of pads to use. I don't want pads that will need to heat up a lot before baking effectively since this is for a daily driver, but then I don't want pads that are going to go in 3 months. I've been reading posts and found a lot of people use the Axxis Metal Masters and I'm looking for a little expereinced insight.
