custom return line or not??????

i am working on a custom turbo application for my 2000 kia sephia but it has a returnless fuel system.this poses my biggest problem that i have found yet,i have narrowed it down to 2 options

1.custom return line
i will have to eather find a good mounting place on the fuel rail or drill a hole for the return line,then i will have to route the line back to the gas tank.
or
2.i have found out from my kia mechanic that inside the gas tank there is a stock fuel presure regulator connected to the fuel pump,this stock peice has a return line and another lie to the engine.my idea was to take off the the stock presure regulator and install a rising rate fuel presure regulator unit and also replace the pump with an upgraded unit as well.

my main question is would option #2 work even though the return line is not connected to the fuel rail???????

The returnless system is a pump and a fuelpressure regulator in an "unit" placed in the tank. This system lowers the emission of vaporised fuel from the cars fuelsystem, it's practicly the only advantage.

I suggest that you raplace the returnless system with a normal system with a fuel return. Replace the fuelpump with a high capacity pump, install a fuelpressure regulator on the fuelrail. Then connect a fuelreturn from the tank and control pressure from the inlet manifold to the pressure regulator. Now the pressure difference over fuelsystem/inlet will always be constant independent on the boost pressure.
