Hey guys, Im 16, just got my first car- a 2001 black firebird w/v6 engine... bein 16 i am completely broke except when i get my measley paycheck every2 weeks...recently ive been blowing it on fun yet inexpensive interior light mods...i got a few neons and some glow wire and have it all set up for a really neat look..my friend and I went out to pepboys and got some switches and inline fuse box's for a little switch job we wanted to do in our cars (he has an acura integra LS) yea screw importsLoL..anyway, has anyone had any experience with hooking stuff up to the fuse box...the switch i have actually fits perfectly into the cig-lighter and if i can figure out how to take away teh electrical current i think that the cig-lighter would be the coolest housing for my new switch...but i need to know how to disable the electrical flow to it in order to prevent fire and what not...any ideas?!

[email protected] if you have some really good advice!

Thanks guys
-Hawk

Well, to do what you're wanting to do, pull the upper console. Two 7 mm bolts under the change tray inside the console. Remove shift knob, then pull it up and you'll see a wire going to the ashtray lightbulb. Twist and remove that. Then the plug going to the cigarette lighter is just a straight pull out.

Technical info aside... neon = :gay:

I'd say the same, but if you can't afford it why not go with some neons, I deffently would never do that with my bird but it'll good cool :smokin:

About 3 hours ago i completed installation of my 4th neon tube LOL, i have them all wired to a single block that gets it energy from the cig lighter (i just cut the wire and stripped it to use the ends) and that is hooked up to a red LED switch... the whole inside of the car is red and the beams pulse perfectly with the bass after much adjustment of the sensitivity knobs.

the neons inside this car are tight, and who gives a damn if ricers use neons. Neons are Neons and Cars are Cars. if it looks cool WHY not?! oh n btw if anyone is looking to buy some Neons, between the 15 inch and 10inch, the 10 actually has more inches of NEON TUBE so get that ones, and its a buck cheaper =-\ yea whatever...

I'll post pics of the neons and you can decide for yourself i suppose :-D

"Neons are Neons and Cars are Cars. if it looks cool WHY not?! "

I think that was their point, they're not. Post pics and maybe that'll convince them otherwise...

God bless america, thats why we all can do whatever WE want to OUR cars. If you like neon or bumper stickers ( i hate them both but oh well) Put them on. ITs your car do what you want to do to it.

I don't think it would look too bad on the outside..........but I'd have to see it to be sure.......don't think I've ever seen an f-body w/ neon underlights.

I've got several people in one of my clubs that have underbody neons and police strobes on their cars. Some cars look good, others don't...

I wouldn't mind having a set of police strobes on my car, could be interesting :evillol:

police strobes??? interior lights? or like the one's on top/ or in grill??

yeah, that would be phat, where do you get those?

BlkCamaroSS

Nope, the actual flashing lights that are in the headlights and taillights. They got them from a guy in the club who has a friend that's an officer in Missouri. Got them for about $300 for a set, and all installed them themselves. When on, they go off in the different sequences common to police cars. Sure would be nice to have those in traffic and get some people to move over... :sunglasse

neons are cool in any car just if ther edone right
u ahev to route it directly to the battery threw the switch and put the fuse between the battery adn switch dont go threw the fuse box just drill a hole threw the fire wall and get a weather gramot to close the hole from wind adn rain adn such this is your best and easiest way to do it but good look just hide the wires good adn put on a show have fun with your car dude your only sixteen once :banghead:

Breed Racing is right.

You can have strobes on your car, as long as you aren't moving. In some states you can have them in parking lots, drive ways, and anything else you pretty much can't move in. Check with the popo in your area though.

Some have laws against tinting, but some cops over look it. I know a lot of people have the glow light in their windsheild washer fluid shooter thingy, and cops in the area i used to work in, didn't care.

www.streetglow.com

They have the gold series on there for $300 I think. DON'T PAY THAT! I got mine for $189.

hey nice car. yes i know imports dont all suck..and overlight or not, i find neons awesome especially if youve got a sound system where you can show off with audio and visual. all this crap about "OOoh u can do that cuz u dont have an import" is such stereotypical B.S. if i go out and slap 50 stickers on my car right now is that going to make me a bad person. will my car undergo some crazy japanimization and turn into a rice rocket? well last i checked stickers werent capable of such feats. thanks to those of you who understand what im talkin bout and to those of you who dont, well just shutup. lol

hmmm i wonder what an fbody would look like with a shopping cart wing.... lmao

yea right novadk my firebird is now "powered by honda" rofl

sound system or not, under car noens still look good on alot of cars if they go wit what you are tryin to do and i never said ur car would turn into a rice rocket if you put stickers on it. the only thing i dont like obout imports is that they sound like misqutos on steroids.

ne way, i like the looks of noens on almost any car.

hey man i wasnt pickin on you, i was talking about everyone else who was posting before on page 1. ahaha....mesquitos.. underglow kits are awesome except when ppl dont do it right and the lights are like...."disconnected" it looks a whole lot better when the glow is a solid shape around the car not like where u can see the seperate beams....kinda hart to explain i guess

__

| |
|__| = like...solid.....kinda...
___
= disconne....F*$# it.....
| |
| |
__ .........@%!#$ screw that....

nevermind the drawings ....it just looks better when the glow is continuous around the vehicle and not like 4 glowing spots...

im not a big fan of undercar neons
around here no matter what color they are and if you are moving or not the cops will give you shit
i like neons on the inside like under seats as long as the colors match your interior and you dont have wires everywhere
one time i did this job where i had to take all the neons put them under seats and take all the controls (3 position switches and sensitivity knobs) and run them to a panel in the dash so you have the adjustments at your fingertips
it was a pain in the ass but damn it came out sweet

Blackcrow64

Yeah I have neons under my dash that light up the floor and they look pretty sweet cause you can't see any wires or neon tubes. Then I made a switchbox in the door and it blended in pretty good with everything. I think there are pictures of it on cardomain. I've got a link at the bottom to it if anyone is wanting to see it.

I dont think thats really true, but then again I am neutral on the subject. I love my formula, but I also want a 3000gt VR-4 eventually. But, hey. I plan on putting some red neons on my black firebird soon as well. I saw it once on a T/A, and really liked it. ::Shrugs:: Everybody has an opinion...
