Isn't the LS tranny better for turbo applications due to the taller gearing? Why dont you just get a LSD installed in your existing transmission?

Longer gearing isn't better for turbo applications. It's the same as N/A, shorter gearing means you accelerate faster. Go look around, but expect to pay 1000-1500-ish for a used one. A GSR with a quaiffe would probably be cheaper, and would give you a bit more useable first and second.

Well.....that's what I tought first but it seems that the Type-R ITR tranny would increase the performance of the car.....but I agree with the longer gear ratio of the LS (S80/Y80) is good for turbo apps

The steeper 1st and second gears of the ITR tranny will have a tendency to blow the tires to smitherines if you're making any kind of power. GSR has the same first gear but longer second, third, fourth, and fifth and is IMO the best street turbo tranny. LS feels to sluggish and takes too long to get into boost, and too long to get back into boost after you shift.
