Hi all!

I just bought myself a 1989 Honda Accord for the unbelievable price of $100 dollars from a guy who claims it just needs a slave cylinder and some minor body work. I know the guy and trust his judgement, so here I am..

I am a big time Jeep guy, and have been on the forums over there for a couple of years now, and am coming in here to see if you guys are as cool and informative as the ones I've met out there. I still have my Jeep too (if interested, my webshots page (http://community.webshots.com/user/davers575) says it all..

Anyway, just thought i'd introduce myself and say hi! I'll be lurking around here and checkin things out. So far, I like what I'm reading!

Welcome aboard

Sounds like you got one heck of a good price on that 89.

Thanks! Yep, I think so.. It's an SE if that helps, and has the leather interior too. It does have 170K miles and seems to have a leak in the valve cover gasket as it smokes from the front of the engine on the exhaust. I hope it doesn't have a cracked block or something like that.

Valve cover gasket isn't too big a deal. My '88 smoked from the front of the engine too until I got it fixed. Guess that was a common problem. Go to the Honda dealership. They'll fix it for you for like $50 or something like that.

Good luck with the car, $100 is a steal! And the previous estimate of $50 was pretty close (if it is what I think it is.) I had the SAME symptom with my car, oil was leaking out and dripping onto the downpipe, causing smoke to rise around the engine from underneath. Turned out it was just the oil sending unit, $45. If it is the valve cover seal, even easier, just replace the seal :p

ya, deffinately an enjoyable car the 3rd gen is, I've driven one around (and beat the heck out of it in the process too). Anyhow, they're practically indestructable, they are light weight, and they even still look pretty cool if in good condition. $100 is a steal for any car imho, but ya, deffinately WELCOME! 3geez is a good resource too *two thumbs up*
