Well I had this beast for about4 months now, and I've had it back to the dealer a couple of times for minor issues. The molding on the driver side window had to be replaced because it wrincled, the roof padding had to be replaced in the rear because it would rub against the rear window and make a cracling sound while driving and the FP kit had to be redone because they would shake and make noise at 100+/mph. Now that its broken in at almost 3000 miles, I have been pushing it for the last month. Whooping up on ponk kids with suped up civics with 40 foot spoilers on a front wheel vehicle. Actualy I've smaked around pretty much anycar I could find at a red light :). Ever since I started beating up on it a little, there has been a shake at idle. Almost seems as a miss-fire. It's just not smooth at idle. I had the V6 automatic for 4 month before I got the 6-speed and it was smooth at idle. The shake is minor, you feel a little slight bump every other second. I took it in to honda and they said there was nothing wrong, and its a regular characteristic? So what do you guys think? It does not affect performance at all. I just thought a $29k car should be smooth at idle. Anyone else feel some extra vibration at idle? Or am I being too picky about it?

Yes you may be too picky.

If you are beating up on the car especially. How long did you break it in?

Make sure you are using good fuel, your air-filter is clean.
Switch over to synthetic everything if you are abusing it.

A slight miss here and there is common for almost every motor I have been on that has taken abuse.

Don't forget the V6 Honda motors are more sensitive to timing issues as well.

I started beating on it after it went to 3000 miles. By saying beating on it i mean taking off TCS once a while just to make some noise and shifting a little harder. I've never had it past 5500 rpm and it redlines at 6700? I think :). I always use 93 gas.
By the way, it could use a good cleaning but here it is:

It is a great car I had a week with it when it first came out, I was suprised at how much power and tq. it had throughout the rev range and how quiet it is even when you get on it hard. The shifter feel is great, but the clutch is pretty mushy IMO.

The weakest part of the car out of the box is the tires, they flat out suck. Not what I would expect out of a 27k car considering the sporty nature of the motor and 6 speed.

But yes, if you are revving a lot, change that oil religiously, and get some syn trans fluid.

I would not worry about the missing. Even temp changes can cause rough idles. S2000 owners complain about this same.

I have the EXACT same car, 6 spd, black, spoiler. I'm 16, so i havent driven too many cars, and dont really notice the bump. It may be due to my inexperience with other cars.

I have now owned 2 of these cars and niether one has exhibited this to me . All I can sugest is try a higher octane and/or a better quality fuel and after about 3 tank fulls tell us if this helped!

I have been using the best fuel there is from mile 1. Its at 4500 miles now and still does it. All honda says is that its normal. And now the molding on window is starting to wrinckle again. This would be the 3rd time I have them replaced. Anyone else having these issues. Also first thing in the morning, as soon as I get in 2nd gear I hear this clunck sound. Just once a day everyday. What is that all aboot?

the clunk you hear is probably the heat/defrost changing settings automaticly when it changes from heater to the defrost for the windows etc... you hear the flap changing postitions .

Hello all. I'm a newbie to this forum..so please bare with me.

I bought my '03 Accord Cpe V6 MT in July and have not had any problems with it. I currently have 5500 miles on it and have gotten it up to 115 on the Dallas North Tollway. :evillol:

The only problem that I've had...or noticed is when I am idle and have the brakes applied ever so slighty...sometimes I get a nasty grinding noise. I immediately took it in to the dealership and they told me nothing was wrong. A couple of weeks later I was on the HondaCare web site and it mentioned that can happen every now and then...perfectly normal. Hhmmm..I don't like it, but I guess I have to live with it.

Cheers!

The clunk sound is the throttle servo reseting through a cammand from the ECM. It is quite normal.
