Air intakes/filters question

Q: Has anyone out there used the K&N replacement for the stock airbox paper air filters, and if so, noticed any difference or had any longterm problems with it?
And other than that, is the AEM Short Ram really worth it? I'm in the Northeast, so am not going to go for the CAI...not only would be air be _too_ cold in the winter, but it'd likely suck up snow and salt and crap as well. I know of too many people who have had to do a rebuild after having too much faith in the bypass valve!

I use a K&N panel air filter in the vette w/ aftmarket housing, my dad has one in his 97 accord ex & K&N cone on my civic si. He says he gets better gas mileage since that :screwy: I dont pay attention much to gas mileage because cars need gas anyway. IMO AEM intakes are a waste of money. A K&N filter on E-bay junker will probably perform as well as the AEM. Get yourself a 2-piece intake - change it from CAI to Short-ram. Bypass valves . . . :grinno: WASTE
The more expensive intakes usually come with a CARB sticker - junkers dont.
