Announced today. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Is it just another cheap rehash of the previous five? :)

:iceslolan They seem to be good decals, especially knowing cartograf is making them...

I can't really tell if it's completely accurate ...

As for being the Monte version, shouldn't it have white decals where marlboro ones should go ? like on the EVO 7 ?

But, I for one, am very interested in this one, and will more then probably buy one (when it comes out here).

Maybe some more hard-core rally freaks could help you out here?

GUYS !

Olivier

edit; it seems they also have included the rally mechanics kit decals for this one, which is IMO, a nice plus to the overall kit, and a nice policy.

It's a rehash, another re-release with some different decals :shakehead

Olivier is right, there should be white squares where the Marlboro logos would have been located, not only that but the wing is the wrong shape.
Not to mention the interior, they still haven't fixed the error with the roll cage and I have reservations about how correct the rest of the interior is.

Tamiya is doing the Fujimi 'milk it for all it's worth' reissue method. :disappoin

Can anyone see if the wing is the same that came with the "winner" version or has it been corrected?

Looks like the same old parts. But at least you can buy the Rennesaince trans kit with the correct wing, dashboard and an extra bonnet.

It's the same Alex, if you look at the photo from the Monte I posted and compare it to the Tamiya presentation photos, the wing is clearly incorrect IMO.

Pretty much as expected. Although wierd Tamiya didn't include the white squares, or aren't they even able to hint at tobacco advetising anymore? All the same faults as the previous NZ 2002 winner. On the plus side it looks like they've included a wider, taller air scoop on the roof.

I think Tamiya should stop worrying about bringing out the latest 'works' liveries at the expense of realism in the molding. Why don't they use the correct molding on an interesting privateer livery? Remember the Michelin Pilot Cossie (from the UK championship if I remember correctly) of a few years back? That way we could get an interesting looking model (there are plenty of privateer 206's to choose from) that is actually physically correct as well. As many privateers are running older spec cars it may be possible to have 2001 car in a 2002 livery etc. What do you think? They could do the same for all the WRC cars.

There is no doubt that this release is another 'rehash' of their existing kits, however, realistically Tamiya are:

1) Trying to get as much as they can out of the Peugeot Licensing.

2) Trying to recoup their development budget effectively (releasing a 'new' kit without spending too much money).

I for one like this livery, hoever, I feel a little gutted that I have bought the Renaissance transkit already. However, I will buy this Tamiya offering, I suppose that i can just use the Marlboro decals instead.

I like it cause it will go nicely with the Rally Lancer Evolution VII in my collection, plus I don't have a Pug yet.

Welcome to AF
Tips in any particular area? First step would be to browse through the FAQ near the top of the page, next try a few searches for Peugeots. Then get back to us, we'd love to help :)

does anyone know when tamiya is coming out with a peugot 307, or does some one allready have one out?

The question is not when they will come out with one, the question is more whether they will come out with a model of the 307.
While many of us are hoping we will see kits of the '03/'04 Impreza WRC, Citroen Xsara, Ford Focus WRC '03 and the Peugeot 307, Tamiya has not shown any intent on producing kits of them, nor for that matter has any other manufacturer.

Ppl keep saying the wing is incorrect. Is it just me, or does it seem like they DID make the correct wing (ie. those vertical protrusions are there)? Or is there something else I am missing?

How about transplanting that wing over to the EvoVII to make the 04 car (f-u-g-l-y --> what were they thinking?!?).

clem..

You have just proven how easy it is to deceive the untrained eye.
The vertical strakes do not make the wing correct, they just make it more correct.
The overall shape of the wing is still incorrect.

If you look at post #3 in this thread where I posted photos of both the model and of the real car, the wing is clearly different on the model to that of the real car.
The wing on the real car flares outwards more before it cuts back for the horizontal section, the wing on the kit doesn't do this, it just goes straight up to the horizontal from the body.
