Well, I've been scouring the internet for 2 days before I came across this forum. I'm not an Exterra owner but I do like them a lot ! I am a bonafide IH Scout junkie though anf just finished a 2 year rebuild of a skied out 78 Scout II. I would REALLY like to get my hands on an Exterra luggage rack and modify to fit my Scout. I realy like that large tube contruction and think it will add a lot of functional character to my truck. Get back to me if someone has one out there and we'll talk business. Thanks a lot !

Well your searches probably fail because it's spelled "Xterra". :(

The rack is aluminum, so any cutting/welding modifications will have to take that into consideration. Also the roof underneath is reinforced to support the rack. Just bolting it onto a sheet metal roof isn't going to work.

You should measure the racks at a dealership as I think the Xterra is longer than a Binder and remember the roof line dips on Xterra's.

(Trying to be helpful, but this sounds a bit like a troll).

Yeah, I realize it will need extensive mods but that's OK. It's still the best looking rack out there. I don't plan on loading it down with 500 lbs, it's mostly for looks and originality. I just know it can be done ... I just have to find one. Sorry about the spelling, nothing like ticking off the XTerra guys ... kinda like when a Jeep guy shows up on the BinderBulletin.org. I knew better too that's the sad part ... read it after I posted it and thought, Oh man gonna catch some heat for that one.

Almost nobody is going to sell you one off their truck as they look like crap without one. Your best bet is to check the junkyards for an Xterra that took side body damage or something besides rolling.

Well, of course I'm not expecting someone to sell me one off of their truck. I've seen listing on this post for wrecked Xterras that were being parted out. I've hit every yard in the Chattanooga area with no luck so far. Still looking.

FYI, Nissan also has a tube rack on the Fronteir Crew Cab that is like the Xterras but smaller and made for a flat roof (Xterra has the rise at rear doors). It would probably fit better on the Scout and without any modifications to the rack itself. Could be it wouldn't be long enough, but worth a look.

If you have time, keep checking Ebay, for they do show up on occasion.

They DO show up on occasion, but evidently they're a hot commodity as they sell faster than shite through a goose.:)

Just curious why you've removed it? Either you went with the Calmini replacement rack, or you're just plain nuts... :D

Im going with the calmini rack. I think its totally sweet looking, and it'll definately bear more of a load and give better protection from a load crunching down onto my roof.

Anywho, im selling the entire assembly if that guy or anyone is interested.:):)

Do you still have the rack for sale?
