Gloss coat first or polish first

I have just started on my first model :iceslolan . i used tamiya acrylics gloss red mixed with IPA. I have put a couple of wet coat and it still appear dull. ( read that it happen when tamiya gloss is mixed up IPA)

What should i do to make it shine?

1) polish it using rubbing compound and wax then put a gloss clear coat
2) put a gloss clear coat first the polish it with rubbing compound and wax?

I wouldn't recommend painting after polishing. Depends what you're using but the polish could leave a barrier that will prevent the subsequent coats from bonding well. Could lead to fisheyes or peeling layers of paint.

If the paint is thick enough and you're only using one single non-metallic colour then clear coating isn't absolutely necessary.

Use some cutting compound on the paint and make the paint smooth. Then spray on a nice wet gloss coat, then use cutting compound on the gloss coat, and polish.

Like RallyRaider said, polish is a last step. Don't paint after you've polished.

Yeah, rubbing compound. Same thing, people just call it different names.
