Chime goes off at random intervals

I have a 99 GTP. The chime that normally goes off when you leave the keys in the ignition, door open, etc., will just go off four times when I'm randomly going down the road. No other lights of any kind come on (warning, interior, or DIC). It doesn't seem to be related to speed or turning. Rough places seem to make it go off more, but I can't tell for sure. I tore apart the dash enough to see the control box that has the speaker in it, and checked the wires going in and they weren't loose. I don't think it's a loose door sensor because the DIC doesn't show the door open. I suppose I could replace the control unit, but I'd like to avoid that if there's a simpler fix. TIA.

Mine did that the other night...I pulled over and listened, it would go off like that, and I couldn't figure out what it was...then I realized my trunk wasn't completely closed. Most likely not your problem, but boy did I feel like a dumbass.

I did that same thing. I was all scared that there was something wrong with my car, but nope, it was just my dumb ass mistake. oh well...

Well, I think I figured out what it was. As soon as I filled up on gas, it quit. The whole time it was doing it, I had less than a quarter tank. There's a TSB out about a faulty fuel level sending unit, so I'm guessing that's what it is. It's pretty weird though since it doesn't say low fuel on the DIC. Just have to wait and see when the gas gets low enough if it does it again.
