Simple mods to boost hp?

Hi, what are some simple modifications a newbie could make to boost performance of a 2001 Lancer GLi 1.8L (that is the same today as the day it shipped from the factory)?

And give a rough estimate of how much these mods would cost each?

Oh yeah, I'm in Australia.
