Paint problem - cracks when drying

I just did a 2nd coat of paing on my Impalla. It's a metalic paint (if it maters), and when I checked on it - the paint was all cracked on the hood, roof, and trunk.
I hope I can polish these cracks out, but what causes them, and how else can I fix them?
Kevin.

The wrong kind of primer usually!
As the paint is drying the primer isn't sticking to the plastic!
Give me a run down of the paints and primers you used...

Are you trying to sucker me into telling you that I don't use primer ;)?
Seriously - I don't. Until recently, I've gotten satisfactory to nice results. The First coat of Testor's (not the tiny square bottled stuff, but the bigger round ones) went on nicely, but I was a bit thin in places, and missed a piece. Time for a 2nd luxurious coat. Wrong - it cracked :(. The thing is - the 2nd coat had the exact same ingredients as the 1st...
