Hey, what's up everyone, I just bought a 1988 Honda CRX with a b16 engine that has 40k miles on it. I have a few questions about making it faster though, I'm thinking of supercharging it but I'm not sure which brand to buy, I know vortech makes really nice ones but which one will fit my car? Also what kind of exhaust do you guys think would be the best for good air flow but not a riced sound? Thanks for the help =)

Ya, welcome to the forums. I have also heard good things about the Jackson Racing SC, But i have also heard really good things about Vortech, but vortech costs a crap load of money from what i hear.

My suggestion would be to go turbo. Turbos are more effiecent than superchargers in 4 cyl. engines, and turbos can be done much cheaper. That's my :2cents:

JRSC fits nicely but I've heard some bad things about them with leaks etc (mostly on Club Si). Vortech needs a bit of work to get it into a 4G (again hearsay).
I'd be turbocharging instead - SCs are nice but don't quite make the bang for buck ratio of a turbo (figuratively and literally :iceslolan )

Welcome! most higher end exhausts will sound good but Apexi WS is good and quiet i'd take a RSR over that much better sound and look(still really quiet). As for the SC JRSC is a roots style blower and Vortec is a centralfual type so its up to you me i like the JRSC i'd take a Turbo over a Vortec though. Its all bout the style of driving.

wow, thanx for being so cool everyone =), sorry I don't have any pics yet but I found one that looks exactly like mine

pretty stock looking I guess but I'm into the whole sleeper styling. So I should turbo instead? I've heard turbo's are worse for your engine than superchargers or something, what kind of turbo should I look into?

Hey, welcome to the board!
I have to agree that turbocharging is the way to go, and that it is much more efficient. I have also heard about problems with the Jackson Racing chargers, and would advise to keep your money to yourself, or go turbo!

Welcome
Turbo or centrifugal super charger. With honda/acura I think turbo's have way more potenial than a s/c.
My bud just popped a D16 w/ JRC s/c :grinno:

HI New Guy!
I personally like the sound of the Thermal R&D exhaust...I was going to buy one but then ran out of cash...So I had my local muffler shop custom bend a 2.25" exhaust with a turbo muffler on it from the cat-back...it was about $250, and it looks stock (except for the larger pipe), and when my ZC motor goes in, will be awesome...it even makes the lowely d15b2 sound good!!
now...as for the turbo..I have no personal experience, but there is a poster in my office that says: "Learn from the mistakes of others...you won't live long enough to make all of them yourself" - With that in mind, scan thru this website and get some ideas - www.homemadeturbo.com
