I have a 92 firebird, and I am narrowing down the problem to possibly the window relay. I do not know where this is located under the hood, and I have been searching online for hours today, trying to find a part number, so that I could possibly look under the hood where it is located. The problem I have, both windows stopped working about a month apart of eachother. I had bought new switches in for the console, since that was the cheapest place to start. After that didn't work, I got a used window motor from a salvage yard, took the door panel apart, took the old motor out (it had screws, not rivets-which lead me to believe they've been replaced before) got the new motor hooked up, and the gear is spinning fine. Put it all together, it works most the day. Then it stops working like it's not getting power at all. Now that I think back, the same time I was in the car, I thought I had smelled a funny burning rubber smell. couldnt tell where it was coming from. Maybe something shorting out in my console where my shifter is at? About the same time I had window problems, my heater core went out, dripping antifreeze on my floor. Had a little bit of electrical smoke coming from the A/C controls, but that went away, now even with the controls set to "off" the blower still blows out A/C or heat. it comes and goes. Please help. I am female, 25, and don't mind to get my hands dirty, I just need a little direction. (I don't know where to look) so far I don't think I'm doing too bad on my own. without help, I got the window motor in there, have replaced the radiator, themostate, well, I know those are simple things, but I still did them on my own ;-) But I do need help with this one, pleaseeeeeeeee I don't have to worry about a fire starting inside the car, do I?
