Jetta or Eclipse

I'm curious what you guys thing, what's a better car, the Jetta, or the Mitsubishi Eclipse. You're getting slammed over in the Eclipse board. and I'm just wondering if anyone has any numbers for me...

I had a '95 eagle talon esi and I now have a 01 jetta gl. the jetta outperforms the talon, it's much sturdier too.

For what it's worth, my fiance and I just got rid of her 2000 Eclipse for a 2000 Jetta vr6. The jetta is soooo much better. In my opinion there is no comparison. BTW if you do end up getting the eclipse let me know we have a injen CAI and OBX coil overs for sale.

No offense but Do you have to ask?? LOL I had an Eagle talon which everybody knows is just a Mitsubishi Eclipse motor in a body that says Chrysler on it. I had to get it timed and NOBODY but Mitsubishi dealer would touch and only for $800.00. We didnt do our research well enough before we bought the car so we didnt know that the eclipse has 2 timing belts and in order to time it the engine has to be somewhat "removed". There is special mechanics certification for this and good mechanics won't do the job unless they are certified. Needless to say we found one who was willing to do it for $300.00 and we thought how lucky we were....well the crook timed it ALL wrong and we popped a piston right through the block....<sigh> it sat in out yard with the engine taken apart and nobody would put it back together for us for less than $2000.00. I let it get repossesed. :) Now I have a Jetta which was always my dream car anyway...it was the hubby who wanted the Talon. Nothing like German Engineering :)

Are you trying to compare the 2000 an up models if so go with the Jetta GLI, But if you are looking 99 and under go with the talon tsi awd, or eclipse GSX, the tuning capabilities are endless I have a 98 vr6 jetta and a 90 talon tsi running low 12's easy.

no i tihnk it dedpends what kind of car you want. If you want a 4 that can keep up with your pocket rockets go for the jetta. but if you want something thats just as fast but looks better and probably has a wider variety of aftermarket parts go for the eclipse. In my opionion the eclipse is much better, im not that into the 4 door thing, also the eclipse would out handle the jetta im guessing

I Would deff go for the Jetta, i cant stand eclipse's one of my friends had one, and the thing was a P.O.S. CAR, making funny noises all the time, once he couldnt even shut the radio off with out shutting off the car. (was a stock radio). i would reccomend the Jetta jus for reliable reasons.

just shut up. what kind of question is "Jetta or Eclipse?" They're two completely different cars, with two completely different buyer segments. The Jetta is for reasonable, just past youth people who want a 4 door car. The Eclipse is for people who love the Fast and the Furious. So go back over to your little Eclipse section and tell them that I said to stuff it up their arse.
