Manipulation...works like a charm.

I was car shopping this summer and had several experiences with several different dealers. Some I would have preferred to tie up with their own sophisticated neck tie drag them down the street behind the new car they were trying to sell me (or not sell me) as a result of poor service...but...my best dealership experiences have occured as a result of the fact that I don't take bullshit from dealers. Yes, I have caught a dealer lying to me and have argued with him on the lot. I'm tough when it comes to car dealers. My trick is to go in acting innocent, "show me what you got" attitude. Something strikes my fancy, I start putting on the charm...hehehe...works like you wouldn't believe. When they start to feel confident they have 'reeled' me in, I pull out the manipulating card (also known as being smart, sassy, manipulative, and stubborn..something they don't usually see coming) and make them tap dance for me. This is a successful method. The last car dealership I went to, I spent two hours there, haggled enough (ON MY OWN! :D ) with the dealer and then walked away. The next morning, I had a call from the Sales Manager. We met again, and they met my monthly payment price, with very little adjustment in a down payment, and knocked the price down roughly $3,000. I write this with a sly smile.
Did I buy the car? No. Other reasons prevented me from signing my life away to a monthly payment, but hey...at least I have proven to myself that I can work the system. :right:

I concur. Simply said, treat them how they treat you. If they are straight, you should be straight. If they lie you lie. Hell lie anyway, does it really matter? You should look out for yourself, and not fold to the dealer. They are getting paid to sit on their A55 all day. They just get extra for selling. I can tell you this unless you know them personally, you shouldn't be worried about ihow much money they are making. How about how much money you can save. Survey Sez...
