friday night carpet conversion

well i had no work or school friday and i was cleaning this dirty ass b18a. i took a break and was looking at the gutted integra. i had mentioned to eric before that it would be neat if we could get new carpet for my car. (the maroon interior/blue exterior is starting to get to me) i saw average prices of $125 for the og molded stuff and shit that's how much my history book cost. can't get that now.
he said that the integra's carpet was too dirty and wouldn't be worth it. well he wasn't home so i ripped that sucker out. blew the years of ground in dirt off with the compressor for a very long time. then hosed, scrubbed, hosed and scrubbed some more and more. i got it back to perfect grey and it even smells good. i then laid it out on some patio chairs in the sun with a couple of fans. and went back to the motor.
eric got home and was pleasently surprised. then he recruitted me for some grunt work on his caravan and after dinner was done it was almost 9:00. since we have no life therefore no plans...i was antsy. he wanted me to do more cleaning on the engine. i said nuts to that. i want to put my carpet in. it's too dark wait for our next day off. screw that! i had my seats out and all the trim pieces and the center console out in 15 min. (not my first time doing that) it was strange pulling out my carpet and seeing the virgin paint underneath. it fit in great. a lot better than i thought. yes a few things didn't line up like one of the holes for the seat bolts, the seat belt bolts but i cut it a little wider. there were some gaps around the center console but i did my best with the hot glue gun (good enough for now) and my car doesn't have the foot rest like the integra so there is a hole. and we can not see how the hell the foot rest is attached to the integra so i couldn't take it off!! well, not without breaking it. it's not perfect but i am very happy. i took pics with eric's dad's camera so now i am waiting on him to email them to me.
i finished at exactly midnight and then had to clean up (sucks!) went for a victory cruise and said naa, na na naa in eric's face. so 3 hrs. for a carpet conversion. not bad in my opinion. what's the book time on that? i did some searches and didn't see anything so i guess that's why i was so long winded.
so my interior is slowly going over to grey/black with the front and back seats, painted console parts, rear deck and i was also able to use the flexible inner door seal/trim stuff. don't know the tech. name. goes on the metal around the door line on the inside. mine was maroon and was clearly visible with the windows down. so now it's black and looks awesome. now i just have to do something with the dash. and seatbelts. it;s getting there!
