what powerfull engines can be put in a 4g4d

What do you mean by powerful?

I guess you want a swap well ZCs are a drop in B-series with a bolt in kit not hard at all i've seen Hs droped in the 4gs civics. I know someone in the 4g fourm has a 4g4d with a B20 in it. turn that into a CRVtec you'll be moving really quick.

If you have the time and money I would sell your car and buy a 5gen civic and that will open a whole new door for performance, handling, and reliability. Then you could do something like a H22 swap and run 12's on slicks with a stock motor.
