Do you have anything worth protecting? Or do you just want something that blinks your lights and beeps when you hit a button... and has an LED to scare away potential thieves?

A cheapy alarm at most places will be like $100-130 installed.

Or you could get the same type of system, for about $50-60 shipped and install it yourself. Theres everything from your basic "power and ground" alarms which basically do nothing -- to your full blown remote paging system. Normally those go for like $400-500 installed, you can pick them up for right around $200-250 depending on the model. Saves you some serious cash for spending a few hours getting to know your car a little better.

IMO alarms are pretty much worthless because most people ignore alarms. If the thug wants the car, he's gonna get it with or without alarm.

IMO the best investment is a cheap "hidden kill switch" connected to the ignition system, car cranks with no start. You will need a metal single pole switch($3.00), wire connectors($2.00), & wire(12-14guage wire $couple bucks).

How would you hook-up a kill switch?
1. Locate a place for the switch & mount - simple as drilling a hole & turning a nut.
2. Locate ignition coil(negative wire) & I hate to say it, but you must cut the wire.
3. Run a wire from the - coil wire to the switch // switch to - coil wire leaving a couple of inches.
4. Make connections @ coil(1 wire to each end of the coil wire you cut), crimp wires with butt connectors & heat shrink.
5. Tuck wires away from hot & moving parts // cover wires with wire tubing for clean looks.
6. Trim wire @ switch & make connections with terminal/heat shirnk connectors.
7. Test switch
8. Tuck, zip tie, cover wire inside car

Make sure connections are tight - you dont want the car to stop running while your driving because you twisted the wires & used electrical tape. Use good connectors with heat shrink & a good set of crimpers.
