Staged Upgrades

Ive seen a lot of "staged" upgrade packs on the internet and Im wondering how much money it would take to get a lot of hp.

Im talking around 600 HP, how much would it cost? I was thinking instead of buying a newer car and slowly building it up, I could buy an old VR4 (still beutiful cars) and drop the money I save into the engine.

I know they arent as friendly as say... supras when it comes to modding. I just want to get a new project car going, something to have fun with.

Ideas?

For 600HP your looking around 5-8 grand for bigger turbos and the supporting mods, depending on how frugal you are. That would put ya in the high 11's to low 12's.
