Antenna replacement on '96 model?

I'm considering replacing the power antenna, which is intermittent over bumps on AM, with a manual whip. I'm thinking of the one on the C. Crane Co. site http://www.ccrane.com/AM_FM_auto_antenna.asp which is available as a 'full replacement' (although I can't seem to reach anyone at C. Crane with any expertise in these matters.) Has anyone tried this sort of thing, and if so, how did it work out? --Cat
