I have a 2000 Civic EX with a cold air intake, test pipe, and HKS Hiper exhaust. Some say my civic sounds like a turbocharged civic, while others say it sounds like an rx7. And when i race people they think im running a turbo.

all of the above are good exausts. it really just depends on the sound u want! jdm how do you mean it sounds like a rx7? like a deeper sound?

Best sounding exhaust for a Civic. Period.

Well yes, kinda deep sound, plus for some reason when my cold air intake sucks in air, and also when the vtec kicks in, it sounds like a whistle, so when u hear it, it actually sounds like a turbo spooling up. the whistle noise it not too loud, but its loud enough for a person to hear.

Yea I have heard that the DC Sports catback is the same as the RSR catback. :sly: I know that the RSR is soooo good sounding and has a great reputation aslo.

Man DC can't touch the RSR its nice but the RSR is so great. I like 5Zigen and Buddy club myself.

I say get the RS-R Exmag Gt2 here is some pics and the link to the site.

It uses a streight pipe design so it eliminates as much curves as possible.

http://www.rs-r.com/imx/exmag_gt2/gt2_p01.jpg

The ultimate in exhaust performance is the GT2 series. This exhaust line is specifically designed to omit useless bends to provide the straightest exhaust pipe route possible. Also redesigned for this exhaust system is a unique slip fit design, giving this exhaust the look and performance of true racecars. This is the exhaust system that will provide significant gains in power for your modified vehicle.

That exhaust looks like it would hit over speed bumps and stuff because it doesn't follow the underbody indents for the stock one, and it would be the lowest part on the car...

I isnt too bad here is a picture of it on a Type-R

looks good. is that exhaust loud?

I was looking at the exmag street series

are they good also?

hell yeah it looks like it has good clearance then I guess, however, I don't like exhausts which point up to the side, looks tacky imo. Mine points up about 10 times worse than that pic and I'm half tempted to buy a whole new one because of it.

The quieter the better, trust me. Tanabe = high pitched girl fart. I used to want the largest, loudest fart can in the world until I drove a car with an intake, header, exhaust, and no cat. I seriously didn't even want to take it past 3000rpms or I would go deaf... it sucked so bad. Ask anybody, having a nice deep mellow tone rolling out the muffler will keep you happy forever. The Greddy EVO sounds like this and I would trade my Apexi N1 for it any day, and mine's a great exhaust.

High pitch girl fart??? Sorry Ricochet but this is the one time I have to totally disagree with you on boh statements. IMHO the Greddy EVO is the riciest sounding exhaust out there. My boy has it on his LS and I swear it sounds exactly like a weed whacker. Also I've NEVER heard anyone describe Tanabe like that and I bought it for the exact reason that is does not sound high pitched or ricey. Thank you.

I am not a big fan of Greddy at all. Both of the people I know with it have it on integras, and both of them have the muffler completely rusted out, and this is having the exhaust for only around a year, it also sounds like ass (probably cus of the rust). IMO, this is one case where you DO NOT get what you pay for. I recommend Magnaflow, 5zigen, HKS, and Tanabe.

Maybe it was because that Tanabe was on an older DX with no other mods at all... who knows. My buddy has a turbo EX with a Greddy exhaust so maybe it sounds good because he's got forced induction or something.

That's what I meant...I want it to be a low sound yet still have somewhat of loudness. I'm hearing alot of good things about the 5Zigen Fireball and the Skunk2 Megapower...

As far as exhausts I have first hand experiece with......My girl has a 5 Zigen fireball and it sounds ricey to me but looks killer. I have a Tanabe and love the way it sounds but hate the clearancee and size. My boy's 00 Si has a Skunk2 and that shit is deep as f*ck and loud. You already know what I think about the EVO and yes 2 cams totally change the exhaust tone compared to 1. I can tell is a car is swapped just buy the exhaust tone so I know which ones would be the best runs :grinyes:

There is a flaw in the design. The welds are not top notch. My boys Si rattles lick sh*t and had to take it to a muffler shop to fix. It may be a bad one but I've never heard of any other muffler doing that. Originally the Skunk2 got the design from RSR and RSR makes some good quality shit but I don't know what happened

The RSR and Skunk2 are basically the same but seeing as RSR has been around much longer, if I had the choice I'd go RSR.

Which Rsr is a good one or comparable to the Skunk2 Mega Power?

The skunk2 mega power will still use the bend of your under carage as your stock....IF you go with the RSR Gt2 design it will use a stright thru design makes less turbulence in the pipe making more HP....

IMO I would go RSR all the way....I currently have a Tanabe Hyper Medalion on my Type-R and wanting to get rid of it and get the RSR exhaust....As soon as I get it Ill give you guys an update on loudness and such...

someone told me that the HKS Hiper Cat-Back comes out at an angle. In which direction is the angle going (right, left, upward right, upward left). Also been told that it has disentigrated small hole in some peoples rear lip on their body kit. what would be an easy way to prevent it from eating my bumper.

Um he last posted in September of last year and has left this site since then.

Freeway4885, replying to posts this old is like going to a bar, talking about something for 20 minutes, then coming back 6 months later and bringing that topic back out of the blue.
