Hey Mike, welcome to AF. We do plastic here, but if you go back to the forums you will see there is a diecast car modeling forum.

Detail work is the easy stuff on Die-casts.
A diecast car is a great place to practice the stuff that you find hard to do.
I'd get a small brush, a set of car detail paints and I'd see what detail I could add to the chassis, interior and engine with a little detail painting.

ideas as far as what? adding putty style kits and such? I say if you've never putty'd before, to try and mold in the front lip spoiler, see if you can get it flush and smooth. it should be pretty easy for you & look great when done!
