This is my fourth 3D model of a car and the first presentable one although my Imprezza WRC could be argued. I might show some pics of that later.

Anyway. This was done entirely in 3D Studio Max 5 minus the textures which I used good ol' Photoshop 7.0 for. And for the Max users... Approx 57,000 polys, one omni light, using normal range imaging it rendered in under a minute at 640x480 res.

Please give me some feedback! There are a lot of errors in this model now that I look back, try and point them out.

Dude that is awesome, I'm just going into 3d stuff now. I was doing animation b4 but am doing 3d now. Class just started 2 weeks ago, we're using lightwave 7. That is f'cking awesome, some peeps might not like it, but i can only dream about making stuff like that, so you get mad respect from me.

very nicely done better than my first or second 3rd or 4th!!
Did you use blueprints and wire frame to render it?

What do you mean? I used blueprints to model it (along with a LOT of refrence pics and my friend's diecast model.). And I rendered a wireframe of it but its hardly worth showing.

Anyways... At the moment I'm working on a Ferrari F2001 but I'm getting really bored of it so I'm going to do another car and then come back to this one later.

Heres some work in progress since you guys liked the 350z :D.

and please don't say shut up or something because you never see any work of me, but i am doing 3d stuff for a little more then 3 years now.

Yeah, thats true. I'll be the first to admit that I still have a way to go. I haven't even had 3ds max 5 for a full year and I didn't start doing cars till much later.

And I would like to see some of your work. But not for credibility, just novelty.

at the moment i don't have any pics of any recent works , my graphicscard is a lil bit... weird :bloated: zmodeler and 3dsmax don't work well with that... i have to get a new one.

but here are some pics of older works. mostly lowpoly. not all works are cars, though.

Honda S-MX Lowdown. Body has around 1200 Polies, need interior to be done.

Nice stuff. I wish I could get my hands on Brazil :( .

I myself have never done any low poly modelling. Usually my complete tires run around 10-20k polys heh. What I do that isn't car related is usually abstract or just a material test. I have lots of those heh, but they dont fit here.

Damn dude, Dr. AK and Weapon X are badasses....I can only hope I can do that stuff.

I got a question, is lightwave good for car design or should I get into 3ds Max????? Any help would be appreciated.

i would recommend for learning , using a program like zmodeler (http://www.zmodeler.nfscheats.com/), milkshape (http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/) or gmax. they are good for newbies , and when you mastered these you can jump onto another, more professional program like 3dsmax.

that would be a nice, easy way to get good with such a 3dprogram. :)
i really can recommend milkshape and zmodeler. i started modelling with milkshape, went on to zmodeler und now i am at 3dsmax. have never used gmax, tough...

hope i could help :)
