Ok, I have finally come to terms with not having a real sports car and just getting the horses I can out of my currently ass shitty civic. I have 5 grand and do not want to waste any of it with un-experienced ideas. I want to use this starting cash to round up an engine (after major internal modifications) suitable for a large turbo application. My brother being Honda gold, and ASE master certified I wont have much to worry about with labor. Here is the concept : get H22A front clip, get new cams, crank, and some 7.8 / 1 pistons, stroke is undecided. Probably will get the block o-ringed and get the pistons molly coated. I can get my hands on a T88h from Greddy for just under 2 grand, but with a turbo that large I wanna avoid spool up problems, so we were thinking a single fogger would take care of it by having a toggle-able 3000rpm - 6500rpm (estimated redline @ 9000)spray in first gear only, with timers and sensors keeping the pressure inside cylinder at logical levels. Anyway if anyone has done this or is doing it please reply, especially if you've run into costly problems that i should know about.

With a t88 turbo you wont spool that thing even if you have nos and a 9k redline. Lesson on stroking engines, the bigger your stroke the faster the piston speed which means you need a much faster burn for the fire front to keep up with the poston on the bang stroke. Why have compression so low? that only kills horsepower, even on turbo cars. You should use a 10:1 compression ratio with stock stroke and keep the boost under 6 psi on 91 octane but when you go to the track you should run 100 octane and go boost happy. Then you will be smoking all of the low compression turbo cars by a decent amount. If this doesnt make sense to you I think you should just swap in a stock h22 and be happy. I did 12.3 @ 110 with a stock h22 cx hybrid on slicks.

i dunno maybe 8.6 or 9 to 1. if i went to drag strip here with a civic they would laugh at me, and i would lose heh.. we dont get sports compact class too often in redneckville.. besides i just want something to almost kill myself with on the street and have reliability.. 10.1 CR and 18psi overtime will devour an engine im about to spend $1800 on.

with low compression and a 4 banger you arent going to spool a big turbo in time for powerband, like a t88 you said before. My rb26dett wouldnt even spool a t88 until 7k rpm's.

ya there is no doubt about it, i would be dumb to use a turbo that large on that application.. what size turbo would be appropriate to work with nos in the 3-6.5 rpm range?

I would go no larger than a high quality t4.
