Not very hard. Just get the wiring harness, computer, and motor; you might want to invest in a new tranny, too.

Swapping the motor is the easy part! It's all the odds and ends that will get a little more involved. You will need motor mounts, fuel lines, all wiring harnesses, computer. That's the bare minimum that will be required. The tranny will work, but you will end up cooking it in no time. Other things that should be replaced are all suspension components, rearend and drive line.

it very well might be cheaper to purchase a 5.0 then to do a swap; unless you get the hook up on the 302 anyways.

That seems like a shit load of dirty work for nothing.

shoot, that sounded worse than what I meant...I meant just get a GT and work on modding it, wouldn't that be easier?

sorry this is late but ive been busy.. just get a gt and work on it.. shit when u can by a stang for 400 dollars that runs fine who gives a crap...its easier to by something like that and make it into a lil sleeper than actually getting a gt with higher insurance rate and building that

I am in the middle of a 2.3 to a 5.0 conversion currently. The engine swap is easy as mentioned previously. It's the other stuff that's tedious. Jason Fletcher has a decent piece of reference material for starters'. The easiest way to do this is using a carborateur (sp?). Need to swap the following at a min.:
Motor Mounts, brake system (front), brake lines (4 cyl. routing is different), struts, spindles (different geometry), transmission (4 cyl wont hold up), tach (will read wrong), rotors (upgrade to 11" rotors), calipers, wiring harness and computer, rear end, brake booster (optional), springs (optional), rims (11" calipers will interfer w/ 14" rims or smaller-need 15" rims or larger), strut tower plate (changed by manufacturer between 1989 and 1990), etc. Hope you've got an air compressor, it's been allot of work so far.
