Hello everyone. I just got a 2004 Sentra 1.8s(it's really my dad's car, but I can drive it too). Right now, it has about 90 miles of easy driving. As I was driving today, I shifted into 4th, and as soon as I did that, the Service Engine Soon Light came on. I'm sure that this is normal for this car, but I was wondering if i should take it in to the dealership, or if there was a quick and easy remedy for this.

Thanks,
Jung

you should be able to take it to AutoZone and have them clear it, but I would go to the dealer just to see what the code is

ummm HELLO. you need to take that thing back to the dealer and say, hey my check engine light came on and i want to know what the code is and why it came on. then if it does come on again you can take it back and make them fix it. if they dont fix it for the third time they have to give you a new car. Its called a lemon. If you have only had the car fo about 90 miles there is something wrong and i would be pissed.

for example my windshield cracked a week after i got it. i didnt hit anything and there was no chip in it. I went to the dealer and they said it wasnt there fault and told me to go away. So i took it to a perfesional window place to get their opinion and they said that there was no chip and the car must have flexed enough to break it. so i took it back to the dealer and insisted that they need to replace it and they did.

What i am trying to get at is that a dealer will not do anything they dont have to under warrenty. so you need to get on their butt about it and make them do it.

take it to dealer it needs a reprogram most 04's do they were set wrong at factory and think that they are running "dirty" when they are not. the reprogram takes about 30 min and is no big deal. It will not hurt car to run it like it is but you should get it cleared asap b/c if car throws another code you have no way of knowing it since your light is already on
