I dont think things can be much more technical then a swap. Have you done one or more then one? Tell us what you did, and how was it. Is there anything we should watch out for if we were to do a similar swap.

Ask me in a month when I've finished my first swap  Man, what am I about to get myself into :silly:

I swapped a B16A into my GS-R with a buddy of mine. I'll admit that he did most of the work, but I took it all in, and I think I could do most of it myself now. It really comes mostly down to a long list of unscrewing nuts and bolts. You remove the radiator, take off the power steering, AC, distributor, numerous hoses, etc. remove the axles, lower engine mounts, disconnect the header from the exhaust, pull the fucker out (usually with a hoist, but there are other methods), pop that new bad boy in, and reverse the process. If you are handy and not shy about this kind of thing, with a tech. manual handy (preferably a Helms) to have steps outlined, etc. you should be able to do it.

Mine was a "level one," as I was able to use the stock mounts, axles, etc. Just have patience, and leave yourself at least ten to twelve hours for your first one. You may very well need much more time than this. I think my situation was ideal, working side-by-side with a veteran Honda swap master, and getting to take in every detail of the operation. What I learned was pretty much immeasurable :)

I wish I could do that, swap engines I mean. But I live in an apartment complex and I don't have a garage

That sucks. I do too, but my complex has garages for rent at $60 a month. And let me tell you, that money each month is money VERY well spent IMO. I keep all my tools in there, a jack, jack stands, engine stand, not to mention lots miscellaneous crap that I don't want sitting around cluttering up my apartment. If you have the means, I highly recommend getting one.

Wow! That is awesome. I wish my apartment complex had garages for rent. Maybe I'll go make some suggestions.

I first did a zc swap into my sedan and then a couple of weeks ago it crapped out on me(blown head gasket). Now I am selling that setup to someone who is going to rebuild it. I have now aquired a b16 and will be putting that into the sedan next week.:D

the swap was relatively easy execpt for the pin that holds the selector/gear rods .... it took a while to knock out....

If you use a non tapered drift it should pop right out. I can't remember the size offhand. Anyone know?

Yea, that is tapered and it punched through. hahahahah:) It's good that you got it out because that would have sucked if you would have had to run down to the dealer or somewhere to get a new pin.

funny u mention that.... i had to drive for a couple of weeks with only 4 gears cos the 5th/reverse gears wouldnt engage....couldnt figure out problem why it didnt work...wasted so much money on it and the when we knew it was the pin, it only cost a buck to replace.
sucks i know

You, sir, have a B16A motor in your car.
The alphanumeric stamp on the block is what identifies the type of motor.
